Our fall newsletter showcases just a few of the projects we worked on the past few months.

MFF

Independent was once again a sponsor for this year's Milwaukee Film Festival, working on both the sponsor trailer and commercial trailer. The sponsor trailer, directed by Carlo Besasie, was written and edited by Ryan Plato. Peter Batchelder and Randy Bobo completed the music and sound design and John Roberts did the motion graphics.

We recently worked with Joe Ban of GMR Marketing to create over 80 web videos featuring Shaquille O'Neal, Tom Brady, Evan Longoria and Ryan Miller to promote Comcast's sports programming as the "Home of the Most Live Sports." The entire edit team of Rob Due, John Fischer, John Roberts, Kevin Klimek, and Jerry Riedel worked together to edit the numerous videos. Randy Bobo mixed all of the web videos. Check out their website to see more.

Cardiac, a Lifebridge spot produced by Terri Burmester and creative director Gary Mueller of BVK is a split screen montage of a female pedestrian traversing city traffic with complete trust. The montage is a metaphor for the cardiac program at Sinai hospital. The footage was shot by Robb Fischer on Red and Canon 5D. Kevin Klimek edited, Rob Due color corrected and Randy Bobo mixed the spot.

Charleston Orwig asked us to create a series of animations for The Global Genes Project opening night benefit during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC. Motion Designer John Fischer, composer Peter Batchelder, and audio engineer Randy Bobo worked with agency creative director Bill Stadick, copywriter Brian Sterricker, and art director Jennifer Wallace. The videos were subsequently entered in the Pepsi Refresh Project, where they placed 13th in total votes among thousands of entrants.

Director Carlo Besasie and Producer John Biesack invited us to collaborate on a series of spots for Potawatomi Bingo and Casino. The campaign, which was shot with the Red Mysterium X, was designed to introduce the Lady Luck character while showcasing the casino as a destination for multiple forms of entertainment. Female models were shot on a green screen, then enhanced in post to create an ethereal character made of light. Motion designers John Roberts and John Fischer also added particle and light effects to scenes throughout the spot, foreshadowing the reveal of Lady Luck. John Roberts created the photo realistic poker chip. Peter Batchelder composed the track with Steve Kultgen mixing the spots. Rob Due edited and color graded.

Ryan Plato recently won a Best Screenwriting award at the HollyShorts film festival in Hollywood, CA, for his short film, 'The Violinist.' The film is continuing to do very well on the film festival circuit, with several more screenings taking place around the country this fall. Both the music composition and color correction were done here at Independent.
Gary Fisher, the pioneer of mountain biking, was recently at Independent Studios recording voiceover for up coming promotions.  Suspended from bike racing in 1968 because his hair was too long, Gary began designing bikes for off-road racing.  He started his company in 1979 and Trek then purchased it in 1993.  Fisher still rides and is very involved in the sport and the brand that bears his name.
