Color Grading

About Color Grading

Your edit is done. It’s fantastic …. well, almost. You rented a Ferrari for the shoot – a red 1984 Testarossa. The client has a thing about Ferrari red. The car looked great (it is kinda hard to make a red 1984 Ferrari Testarossa look bad) The trouble is, in the medium shots, that Ferrari red looks a little more like 1991 Honda Element orange. Dang! that red Ferrari sure took a huge chunk out of your budget. You could have rented an orange Honda from your intern for twenty bucks and a sandwich. Oh, did you say sandwich? Your last shoot for that regional deli chain had beautiful shots of sandwiches piled high with what ended up looking like gray meat. Yum! No! Ick!

How do you fix it?

You guessed it…ask Independent. Here’s what we’ll tell you: Color Grading (or Color Correction if you prefer and are old school). Yep, that red Ferrari can look the same from shot to shot and there is no reason why that gray meat can’t make you salivate because it looks like a juicy roast right out of the oven, caramelized to roasty perfection instead of a gray lump. Color Grading at Independent. Let us build it into your project. You will be so happy.
